Luxury in Norway: Herangtunet is both intimate and luxurious. We spent many years making it the wonderful warm place it is today. A place where ideas have found a home in four suites and five rooms, each with their own identity and story to tell when you sit down in one of the chairs in front of the fireplace.
Pull up a chair and get a taste of Norway. A Valdres region taste, since we cook with ingredients from our local butcher, baker and brewery. In the harvest season, we hunt the woods for mushrooms, berries and edible plants before heading to the fjord to catch us some fresh fish for tonight.
Located only 200 kilometers North of Oslo we like to say we live in the heart of Norway. Here you hike in the stunning Jotunheimen national park, ski on the slopes of Beitostølen, hop on a Husky dog sleigh, enjoy the traditional Nørsk cuisine with a contemporary twist, catch your own trout-for-dinner in the Heggefjord and so, so much more.
Amidst pristine nature and rough mountains you find yourself embraced by luxury, comfort and more. At Herangtunet we aim to trigger all our guests’ senses. To energize and spark creativity.
In 2007 we, Marie José and Marco, decided to trade in our Amsterdam city life for the Heggenes village vibe. Along came Balder, our son. Our jobs as interior designer and graphic designer we left behind when we set our mind and creativity to turning yesterday’s farm into today’s boutique hotel.
Winter is a magical time of year at Herungtunet. Wood stoves warm the bones, flames roar and outside the Ofyr is like a campfire you gather around and cook your own food on. Winter arrives in November to stay till April.
