Canyoning in Norway
A short distance away from the center of Beitostølen you will find Raudalen and Gipa, where our gorge walk trips take place. Gorge walk involves walking up the canyon in the river, so you will get wet! During the trek we pass waterfalls of up to 100 m and other spectacular “photo moments” along the way. The trip requires medium fitness. If you feel like it, we can stop along the way for guests to take a short swim. Half-way through the trip we take a break and make coffee / tea over an open fire. Guests should bring some food/packed-lunch, a cup, and dry clothes/shoes to change into at the end of the trip. The trip takes 4-5 hours, depending on the water level. Recomended from 10 years old.
The canyoning tour will start at 700 meters above sea level and will go up to 1080 meters above sea level. Here we will pass waterfalls with a drop down of up to 100 m. On this trip you will really feel the power of rushing white water of the Raudøla. We will take a break and make coffee and tea over an open fire. Please bring your own lunch, a cup an dry clothes. The trip will take 4-5 hours.
GIPA
GIPA is a V-shaped valley formed by the river. There are many lichens here and in the water and we can see from the beauiful signs of wear, that the valley is a couple of million years old. If you want to, we go into the river, here you must help each other to overcome several rapids. We will stop at a 50 meter high waterfall. From here we will have a dry walk to the next plateau. Then we will look straight into the 100-meter high waterfall. From here we will start a climb about 45 meters high, the summit at 1080 mh
